Description

The following are very important considerations for  Veritas InfoScale Operations Manager Management Server (VIOM MS) deployments:

1. It is strongly recommended that the VIOM MS is dedicated solely to its role as a VIOM MS. 

2. The same system should not be used as both a VIOM MS and a Netbackup Media Server. If it is currently used as a NetBackup Media Server, then it is recommended that a separate VIOM MS be deployed.

3. The NetBackup client software can be installed on the VIOM MS as well as the VIOM Managed Hosts (VIOM MHs), but it is important that the latest VIOM MS patch is installed.

4. Veritas License Management Service (LMS) is designed to coexist with VIOM MS servers.

5. If the VIOM MS is part of a VCS cluster (HA deployment), then it is extremely important that the latest VIOM patches are installed before installing any InfoScale patch bundles.

6. Ideally, the VIOM MS should not be configured as a CP (CoordPoint) server. In the event that it is, the latest VIOM patches must be installed before installing InfoScale patch bundles.

Regarding points 5 and 6, it should be noted that the installation of an InfoScale patch bundle could introduce a newer version of the VRTSsfmh package.The VRTSsfmcs package should be the same version or higher than the VRTSsfmh package as a mismatch can lead to misbehavior of the VIOM MS server and/or cause issues during future VIOM upgrades.

7. If upgrading the InfoScale version to the next GA version, if the VIOM MS is also a CP(CoordPoint) server, then the VIOM version should be upgraded to the latest available GA version and patch (if not already running that version) before upgrading InfoScale (version and patch)

8. If upgrading the InfoScale version to the next GA version, if the VIOM MS is part of a VCS cluster (HA deployment), then the VIOM version should be upgraded to the latest available GA version and patch (if not already running that version) before upgrading InfoScale (version and/or patch)
