The following are very important considerations for InfoScale Operations Manager Management Server (IOM MS) deployments:
1. It is strongly recommended that the IOM MS is dedicated solely to its role as a IOM MS.
2. The same system should not be used as both a IOM MS and a Netbackup Media Server. If it is currently used as a NetBackup Media Server, then it is recommended that a separate IOM MS be deployed.
3. The NetBackup client software can be installed on the IOM MS as well as the IOM Managed Hosts (IOM MHs), but it is important that the latest IOM MS patch is installed.
(eg. IOM 8.0.2.520 - vom-8.0.2.520.sfa )
4. Infoscale License Management Service (LMS) is designed to coexist with IOM MS servers.
5. If the IOM MS is part of a VCS cluster (HA deployment), then it is extremely important that the latest IOM patches are installed before installing any InfoScale patch bundles.
6. Ideally, the IOM MS should not be configured as a CP (CoordPoint) server. In the event that it is, the latest IOM patches must be installed before installing InfoScale patch bundles.
Regarding points 5 and 6, it should be noted that the installation of an InfoScale patch bundle could introduce a newer version of the VRTSsfmh package. The VRTSsfmcs package should be the same version or higher than the VRTSsfmh package as a mismatch can lead to misbehavior of the IOM MS server and/or cause issues during future IOM upgrades.
7. If upgrading the InfoScale version to the next GA version, if the IOM MS is also a CP(CoordPoint) server, then the IOM version should be upgraded to the latest available GA version and patch (if not already running that version) before upgrading InfoScale (version and patch)
8. If upgrading the InfoScale version to the next GA version, if the IOM MS is part of a VCS cluster (HA deployment), then the IOM version should be upgraded to the latest available GA version and patch (if not already running that version) before upgrading InfoScale (version and/or patch)
