Cause

The issue occurs due to incompatibility between the RHEL kernel version 5.14.0-427.28.1 and InfoScale version 8.0.

 

Resolution

To resolve the issue, the below options can be explored:

  1. If there are plans to use the upgraded kernel version, then upgrade InfoScale to version 8.0.2 with IS 8.0.2 Update 3 on RHEL9 Platform (infoscale-rhel9_x86_64-Patch-8.0.2.2200), which supports RHEL kernel 5.14.0-427.28.1. 

  2. If upgrading InfoScale is not feasible, downgrade the RHEL kernel to a version that is compatible with InfoScale 8.0.

 

 

Issue/Introduction

For Veritas Infoscale 8.0 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) platform, after upgrading the RHEL kernel to 5.14.0-427.28.1, the below issues are observed: a) The Veritas Cluster Server (VCS) level commands like hastatus -sum and hagrp -online <SG_name> -sys <node_name> are unable to complete. b) Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM) level commands like vxdisk list command return an IPC failure error,
